So today it’s Mobile Sandy Bridge day! Many tech sites have published reviews of one or several Intel Sandy Bridge processors for laptops, including some benchmarks of the new IGP (Intel HD 3000). Some of the conclusions are:

  • The slowest processor in the family, the Intel Core i7 2620QM, is faster than the Core i7 940XM in most tests.
  • Quick Sync technology accelerates video encoding up to 5x (if encoding software supports this technology).
  • Intel Graphics HD 3000 is on par with low-end dedicated GPUs, and sometimes close to mainstream ones.
  • Battery life is enhanced.
